Jeff graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting in 1990. He obtained his masters degree in accounting with an emphases in tax in 1991. During his college career he was an active member of Beta Alpha Psi, a national accounting fraternity.

Following his graduation he accepted a position with the Utah State Tax Commission as an auditor. Shortly after that he began his career in public accounting working for a local accounting firm in Logan, Utah. After working there for several years he had the opportunity to buy out one of the partners and shortly thereafter purchased an additional portion of the business and started his own CPA firm. He merged his firm with David R. Saunders CPA in January 2000, creating the existing firm Saunders, Wangsgard & Associates. PC. He worked with this firm until September of 2019 at which time he once again started his own CPA firm, Jeffrey R Wangsgard and Associates LLC. Jeff is licensed as a CPA in the state of Utah.

Jeff is married to the former Julia Cowley of Logan. They have two daughters, Sarah and Kaitlyn, and one son, Christian. Together they enjoy camping in the outdoors, spending time at their cabin in Logan Canyon, and hiking the mountain trails. They also enjoy service in the community and working with youth groups.

Olivia is a dedicated professional with 15+ years of combined experience as a Staff Accountant; Payroll Manager; Billing Manager; Secretary/Bookkeeper in insurance, medical administration, institute of religion; and as a Copy Center Specialist. She has loved learning various positions over the years and loves the challenge of learning something new.

Two semesters before graduating from Utah State University (2018) with a Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting and minors in MIS and Agri-Business, Olivia met her husband and they have been married now for 3 years. Before that she also graduated from Bridgerland Applied Technology College (2015) with her Accounting Technician and Business Administrative Support Certifications.

Olivia has lived in Cache Valley her whole life and has loved being a part of this wonderful community. She loves meeting new people from throughout the valley as well as all over the world and is always grateful to have friends and family around her as each new life adventure presents itself.

As a tax accountant, I am quite often asked what made me decide to do accounting, especially since I made the decision when I was just 16. The best explanation I can give is that I’ve always been a bit of a “bean counter.” For example, when I was probably in about second grade, my sister and I shared a room. She worked at a fast food restaurant and would often get tips from people in the form of pennies. She offered to pay me $1.00 a week in pennies to keep our room clean and tidy. As an eight-year-old, the prospect of $1.00 a week, even in pennies, was amazing. I dutifully cleaned our room and excitedly counted out my 100 pennies every week. I saved those pennies up until I finally had enough money to pay for myself to watch a movie in a movie theater. I walked up to the register with a gallon bag full of several weeks’ worth of pennies and proudly told the teller that I had counted and had the exact right change. The cashier was, of course, bewildered and hurriedly waved me on to the movie. It wasn’t until several years later that I realized just how ridiculous the whole situation must have been for that poor cashier.

So, I guess you could say accounting and financial planning is just a part of who I am. I got my first bookkeeping job when I was just 16, working for a family friend’s small electrical business. When I graduated high school, I moved to Cache Valley and studied accounting at Utah State. I graduated in December 2018 with my master’s degree in accounting with an emphasis in tax and personal financial planning. I love the chance that my job offers for me learn new things every day and help the small business owners of my community navigate the sometimes difficult and confusing world of accounting and taxes.
